The Embassy Journal :The U.S. Embassy in Dhaka, through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), has launched the “Healthier in Motion” campaign aimed at promoting health, nutrition, physical fitness, and mental well-being among women and youth in Bangladesh. The initiative seeks to address the social barriers that prevent women from making decisions about their own health and encourage them to seize equal opportunities in a supportive environment.

USAID Mission Director Reed Ashliman emphasized the importance of equal opportunities for women, girls, and youth. He stated, “For society to reach its full potential, everyone must play a role in ensuring that women, adolescent girls, and youth have equal opportunities to complete their education, engage in sports, and pursue their dreams, so they can live their best lives.”

Nigar Sultana Jyoti, the captain of the Bangladesh women’s national cricket team and the campaign’s ambassador, shared her inspirational journey of overcoming challenges in sports. She said, “Sports have made me physically and mentally stronger and helped me become financially independent. I hope this campaign will inspire many young women to believe in themselves and pursue their dreams.”

Other campaign ambassadors include Johaad Reza Chowdhury, the lead vocalist of the popular band Nemesis, and Shajia Omar, an experienced yoga instructor and founder of Dhaka Flow. Both spoke about the importance of health and fitness in today’s world.

Over the coming months, “Healthier in Motion” will host a series of outreach events at regional and national levels, bringing together fitness professionals, health experts, and celebrities to promote healthy living. The campaign will also include men and adolescents, encouraging them to contribute to women’s empowerment and well-being.

In collaboration with Khelbe Bangladesh and Dhaka Flow, the campaign will address challenges posed by urbanization, sedentary lifestyles, and climate change. It aims to inspire the youth to adopt healthy habits and contribute to positive changes in the modern world. Through these efforts, “Healthier in Motion” hopes to create a lasting impact on the health and empowerment of women and youth across the country.
