In a significant step towards gender equality in the workforce, UNOPS Bangladesh, in collaboration with the Embassy of Sweden and the Department of Women’s Affairs, organized an impactful roundtable discussion today. The event aimed to highlight the challenges women face in the workforce and explore sustainable solutions to break down these barriers.
The session featured powerful keynote addresses from prominent figures, including Mamtaz Ahmed NDC, Senior Secretary at the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs; Gwyn Lewis, UN Resident Coordinator; Sudhir Muralidharan, Country Manager for UNOPS Bangladesh & Bhutan; and H.E. Nicolas Weeks, Ambassador of Sweden.
The dialogue emphasized that gender equality is crucial for achieving sustainable development. Key highlights included inspiring stories of young women excelling in traditionally male-dominated fields like STEM and architecture, alongside dynamic panel discussions aimed at fostering inclusive work environments.
The event concluded with a strong call to action, urging policymakers, educators, and industry leaders to commit to concrete actions to ensure women’s equal representation and opportunities in the workforce.
