Seven Australia Awards scholars from Bangladesh joined a diverse group of scholars from South Asia and Mongolia at the 2024 Scholars Forum held in Canberra on November 26-27. The event, focused on the theme “Working Together for a Gender-Equal World,” brought together individuals united in their commitment to advancing gender equality across sectors and borders.

The forum featured expert speakers from a range of organizations, including the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, the Office for Women, and various non-governmental organizations (NGOs), as well as the education sector. These experts provided valuable insights on current gender equality initiatives and strategies for achieving lasting change.

Participants had the opportunity to engage in networking sessions, fostering connections across borders, and collaborated in workshops where they discussed practical ways to integrate gender equality into their professional and personal spheres. The forum encouraged participants to explore how they can contribute to gender equality within their workplaces, communities, and countries, reinforcing the importance of collective action in addressing global gender disparities.

The 2024 Scholars Forum is part of a broader effort by the Australian Government to promote gender equality worldwide. Through initiatives like these, Australia Awards aims to support scholars in becoming change agents, equipping them with the knowledge and networks to advance gender equality within their respective regions.

This gathering exemplified Australia’s commitment to global gender equality, inspiring participants to carry forward the momentum of the forum in their ongoing work, both in Australia and their home countries. The Forum’s success underscores the importance of collaboration and continued focus on gender equality in shaping a more inclusive future for all.
