Dhaka,Bangladesh: The Swiss Embassy in Bangladesh has expressed its continued support for the Media Resources Development Initiative (MRDI) as it launches the Digital Investigation Fellowship program, designed to enhance the skills of journalists in digital investigation and fact-checking. At the launch event, Ms. Corinne Henchoz Pignani, the Chargée d’affaires a.i. of the Embassy, highlighted Switzerland’s commitment to fostering freedom of expression and an independent press worldwide.
The fellowship program will train six journalists to sharpen their abilities in digital investigation, equipping them with critical tools to combat misinformation and improve the quality of reporting in the digital age. With misinformation and fake news becoming significant challenges in media, this initiative is seen as a timely response to support journalistic integrity and enhance the credibility of news sources in Bangladesh.

Ms. Pignani, speaking at the event, emphasized the importance of independent media and transparent journalism, stating, “Our partnership with MRDI on this fellowship reflects Switzerland’s priority for freedom of expression and an independent press.” The Swiss Embassy’s support is a testament to the country’s ongoing efforts to contribute to the strengthening of democratic values and human rights in Bangladesh.
