The Embassy Journal: The interim government of Bangladesh has appointed journalist Mushfiqul Fazal Ansarey as an ambassador to a Bangladesh mission abroad. His appointment, with the rank of senior secretary, is for a term of three years. The Ministry of Public Administration issued an official notification confirming the appointment.

As per the notification, Ansarey is required to sever all professional, business, and government ties for three years from the date of assuming office. However, the specific country where he will be posted as ambassador has not yet been revealed. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is expected to release a separate order detailing his assignment.

Ansarey, who returned to Bangladesh on September 12 after nearly ten years in exile, is a well-known journalist based in Washington, DC. He has earned recognition for his critical questioning during U.S. Department of State press briefings. Ansarey is currently the executive editor of South Asia Perspectives, a Washington-based foreign policy magazine, and also works as editor and White House Correspondent for JustNewsBD. In addition, he serves as the executive director of Right to Freedom (R2F), a nonprofit organization in Washington, DC, and is a permanent correspondent at the United Nations headquarters.

Previously, Ansarey served as assistant press secretary to former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia from 2001 to 2006. He also worked as a diplomatic correspondent for Ittefaq, the oldest Bengali daily. Ansarey gained popularity by hosting the TV show Hello Excellency on NTV, which featured discussions with around sixty ambassadors and foreign dignitaries.
