Jean-Michel Dumaz, the Regional Civil Protection Attaché, recently visited Chittagong to meet with the Chairman of the Chittagong Port Authority and the Zonal Commander of the Coast Guard East Zone. The discussions revolved around advancing port safety and operational standards as part of an international collaboration.
Chittagong Port has been selected to participate in the Global Port Safety Project, an initiative financed by France and the European Union. This capacity-building program is designed to enhance safety protocols and operational resilience in large Asian ports, ensuring they meet global standards.
During the visit, Jean-Michel Dumaz highlighted the significance of Chittagong Port’s strategic role in regional and international trade. He expressed optimism that the project would strengthen the port’s infrastructure, safety management systems, and disaster response capabilities.
