Dhaka,Bangladesh: In a major step toward tackling climate change, Bangladesh and Germany have officially launched the Bangladesh-German Climate and Development Partnership (CDP), marking a historic moment in their longstanding cooperation. The Joint Declaration of Intent (JDI) was signed today by H.E. Achim Troester, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Bangladesh, and Md. Shahriar Kader Siddiky, Secretary of the Economic Relations Division (ERD), Ministry of Finance, Bangladesh.

This ambitious partnership aims to address the global climate crisis by focusing on key areas such as climate adaptation, renewable energy, energy efficiency, and nature-based solutions. It builds on over five decades of collaboration between the two nations, with both countries now committed to jointly advancing the global climate agenda.

The CDP is a non-legally binding agreement, effective immediately upon signing, which will serve as a foundation for long-term collaboration between the two countries in the fight against climate change. The partnership is set to support the transition to clean energy, enhance resilience against climate impacts, and foster sustainable development practices that prioritize environmental protection.

Bangladesh, one of the most vulnerable countries to climate change, has been actively working to mitigate its environmental challenges. By aligning with Germany, a global leader in sustainable development, Bangladesh is poised to benefit from the latest innovations and expertise in climate action.

The partnership is expected to generate significant progress in areas like renewable energy infrastructure and energy efficiency, while also promoting nature-based solutions that protect vital ecosystems. As both countries continue to face pressing climate challenges, the Bangladesh-German CDP marks a bold and essential step toward a sustainable, climate-resilient future for the world.
